Where's a fun place to hike/camp/swim near San Antonio?

Travel Info
I want to take a group of college-aged girls that have never been camping to a park relatively close by to San Antonio. For sure less than 3 hours away. I have been camping and plenty of hiking and I'm their same age.

Travel Tips
Guadalupe SP is just down 281 in Spring Branch/Bulverde area, it is a really nice park with good trails, right now due to the drought, the river is way down though. Lost Maples is awesome in the fall, make reservations for there now if it isnt already booked. Down south there is Choke Canyon which is a huge lake, pobably on the edge of your 3 hour circle. McKinney Falls in Austin. I go to all of these about once a year. We make the rounds. I can also recommend Pedernales Falls, check out the state parks website for more details, the fees there are going to be much less than a privat campground. There are also several camp grounds on Canyon Lake run by the Corps of Engineers. Nice facilities there as far as showers and restrooms. Source(s): http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/

Go camping every month

Other Travel Tips
Did you ever think to ask the chamber of commerce??
Enchanted Rock sounds like it would be fun.We planned to go there this summer but wasn't able to,maybe this fall. Also throw camping and hiking in SA into a search engine. We stayed at the Guadalupe River State Park this summer it was pretty nice ,don't go tubing there though the river is to low and you hit every rock in it. Hope you have fun !
A good place is Canyon Lake in New Braunfels, TX which is less than 30 Minutes NE of San Antonio. Great camping, fishing, boating, and hiking.
The Hill Country area is lovely - rolling hills, a river to go tubing on (you can go to a rental service - google it - they'll provide the tubes, drop you off & pick you up at the bottom of the run), and camping sites. This is a beautiful area and close to San Antonio.
Enchanted Rock is Ok, but Lost Maples in Vanderpool is a lot better.
