Is Taos, New Mexico a good place to live? What are the Pros and Cons? |
Travel Info Is Taos, New Mexico a good place to live? What are the Pros and Cons? Travel Tips the last 2 answers were totally off the mark. first of all it is cool in the summer..80's during the day and 50 at night. not bad at all. Tao's is at a high elevation and it is rarely hot for long. i have a house there and go out for months at a time and wish i could live there year round. There are great restaurants, GREAT hiking, rafting, ballooning and you can even do it free if you help out, tons of festivals and dances and open-mike bar nights and local cool stuff to do. of course there are all the tourist traps but they are pretty nice. and if you like art you will be happy. In the fall the asters and other flowers bloom and the aspens turn yellow and it beats new England hands down. the only con i know of it that the cost of living is high and the job options are limited. it can get cold in the winter when the sun goes down....duh.... Others My husband visited Taos a few months ago, and he said that the only thing he saw out there was a fried chicken place and some tumbleweed. If you want peace and quiet all to yourself and enjoy the heat, I guess its a good place to live. However, there really isn't much for anyone to do out there - especially if you're young and like to go out. The above answer is correct - however, if you're an avid snow skier, Taos is great (in the winter, of course.) Beautiful country but I wouldn't live in Taos.. Favorite area is Santa Fe - used to fly there every 6 wks or so and found the weather year round was great - high desert sunsets are fabulous. |
