San Antonio, TX????? |
Travel Info Does anyone live in San Antonio? Do you like it? What are the pros, cons? Do you have tornados, floods, fires? Any serious info. will be greatly appreciated. Travel Tips I've lived here about 45 years. I love it here. But definitely like to travel around the country. No place is perfect, but San Antonio can be very special. Tornadoes are very rare here. We are south of tornado alley so we don't get the really big, destructive ones. In all this time I remember exactly one that did any damage and it was mostly to roofs. San Antonio is on the edge of the Edwards Plateau. It is fairly flat. That means that if we do get a significant rain, there will be some localized flooding. In the last ten years we've had two "500" year floods. So we should be set for about 1,000 years before the next one. It can be very hot and humid in late July, all of August and part of September. Sping and fall are usually very mild. Winters are generally mild. (It was in the 70's here today.) Employment is on an upswing. Especially in medical fields, technology and the brand new Toyota plant added about 3,500 manufacturing and manufacturing support jobs in the last year. Wages are improving but we are still below the US averages. Hope that helps a bit. Feel free to post additional questions and I'll try to answer. BW Others i love it here mexican culture is a big part of san antonio i think there are more mexicans than whites I like to visit San Antonio. But I would never live there. It's like living on a border town. |
