Going to San Antonio for FIESTAS woot woot! im so excited, its gonna be so much fun with my friends!? |
Travel Info but what is there fun to do besides going to the riverwalk? any ideas on what to do for fun? Travel Tips I'm recycling this answer from another question that I used it on... There is, of course, the Alamo and Riverwalk. We have all the usual restaurant chains. Downtown San Antonio offers tons of historic sites with the various missions, as well as great shopping. There is also Market square, which offers food and merchandise sold by local artisans. We also have an IMAX theater downtown located inside the Rivercenter Mall. Speaking of Rivercenter Mall, they have decent food and shopping, as well an arcade. The nightclub scene downtown is pretty good, but can be a bit expensive. It is best to get with some locals who know their way around. (We won't bite... much...) You can also take in a Spurs game, if you're here during the season, at the AT&T center (not the Alamodome...) The Silver Stars (our WNBA team) play at the Alamodome. Also, if you're here during the first friday of the month, you can check out first friday. On the first friday of every month, local artists get with local galleries in Southtown (south of downtown) and dislpay fresh art. There is food, live music, and a ton of great people. The San Antonio Zoo is always a good stop. They have just about every animal you expect to see at the zoo. Beware, however, that they are currently rennovating, so some displays may be closed. The Witte museum is located on Broadway near downtown, and is an inexpensive diversion. There is also the San Antonio Art museum and the McNay art museum, both of which have fantastic displays year round. There are also two outlet malls that offer discount name brand goods in San Marcos, about 40 miles north of town. Like theme parks? I hope so, because we have two. There is Six Flags Fiesta Texas, which is always a good time; and Sea World San Antonio, for the fish-lovers. As for waterparks, there is Splashtown here in town and Schlitterbahn in New Braunfels, about 30-45 minutes away. Both are fun, but Schlitterbahn tends to get a bit crowded in the summer. Also in New Braunfels is the Texas Ski Ranch, which offers everything from water skiing to a skateboard park. They're pretty much an extreme sports complex. North of town you can find the Natural Bridge Caverns, which offer tours of naturally occuring underground caverns. There is also the Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch, offering tours of... you guessed it... various wildlife. For all of your horse racing and gambling needs, there is Retama Park on the northeast side of town. It's nice. These are just some of the things to do in and around San Antonio. There is tons more, but I'm tired of typing. Hope this helps!! Source(s): I work for a hotel. We have a brochure rack. I am bored. Other Travel Tips S.A. Has a great art gallery, go there. Don't miss eating at least once at MI Tierra ,it has been there forever. Walk through the beautiful Menger Hotel next to the Alamo.Ask to see the suites on the old side. Go to the art gallery again. . I would suggest going to the Blue Star Art Gallery on South Alamo Street. You can take the trolley to get there from downtown. I would also suggest the Institute of Texan Cultures. It's a museum of all the different peoples who have lived in the area we now call Texas for the last 15,000 years.Oh by the way, going to Fiesta is fun with the music and the food, but be on the watch for a restroom. These are scarce and local businesses will charge for their use because they know you really need it,lol. I'm not kidding. Tower of the Americas restaurant and observation deck. Great view of San Antonio day or night. It's in the downtown area not to far from the Riverwalk. San Antonio is boring. Expect to sit at your hotel room and do nothing. B/C seriously, San Antonio is one of the most boring city I have ever lived in. The shops at La Cantera are pretty great though. very beautiful mall. There is Fiesta Texas! It's just a six falgs in texas, but they have great rides!!!!!!!!!!!! |
