How is san antonio compared to Atlanta? Are there any racial issues.? |
Travel Info Not to be judgemental, because I am not. I just hear that a lot. Which is better to move Houston or San Antonio especially for the IT field. Travel Tips San Antonio tends to have less racial issues than Houston, but like any city, there are "good" sides of town and "bad" sides of town. Unfortunately, most of the military bases are near the "bad" sides of town. If a job in IT is your top priority then you should consider Austin. Compare to Atlanta, it's a small town. But it's also a very lively, young, and open-minded town where race is not much of an issue for anyone. It has a nice, laid-back kind of vibe but also a very active music scene, as well as great restuarants and outdoor spots. IT and the arts are pretty big there. And football. But football's big everywhere in Texas!! ;) Source(s): Born in Houston, raised in San Antonio, went to Austin as often as I could. Other Travel Tips I have lived in San Antonio for over 5 years. I find it refreshingly free of racial problems. There seems to be an acceptance here that I have not found in other Texas cities. I can only answer for San Antonio, it definitley is very friendly with racial harmony, the pay is not that good here to the point of being almost laughable. Houston has a much better pay scale and more opportunities. San antonio has more affortable housing. Houston, definitly Houston. I have lived in San Antonio for two years now and hate everything about this city. My husband and I are trying everything we can to get out of here, (he's military) the gangs, section 8 housing (welfare) and crime are to much to deal with. there are many issues here in san antonio, just like any of the other top 10 largest cities in the US (Houston incl). Every one of them has issues with gangs, section 8 housing, good sides of town, bad sides, in between blah, blah, blah. You get the picture. All in all it's a good place to live, and I'm not originally from here. As far as the IT market goes, the jobs are better paying and more predominant in Houston. I lived in GA and I'm familiar with the Hotlanta issues, and SA is not like that. Definitely more tolerant a community and willing to live a little more harmoniously (if that's possible today). I would live here in SA over ATL any day. Honestly, it depends on what part you live in. I live in the North West side but work in the North East side (not as nice as NW). Racial issues? They are not really an issue.. I am not sure what you mean exactly but I have noticed that there are a lot more interracial couples (including me) and no one has a problem with it. Same with Houston, but it is a larger city. The crime in San Antonio is definitely not as bad as Houston. For your IT job: San Antonio does not pay as much as Houston, but the cost of living is also really low. I would recommend Houston for you because San Antonio is really a big little city. It would be a difficult transition from Atlanta. Good luck! |
