What has the weather been like in the past month in the San Antonio area? |
Travel Info I am from the Dallas/Fort Worth area and we have been having severe thunderstorms and tornados on a weekly basis for the past month. My husband and I are looking to move somewhere where the weather isn't as crazy as it is here. Travel Tips This year has been for the unusual weather, though not as much snow as your area. Rain has prevailed and in April we had appx. 10 inches, lots of flooding and rescues, we had appx. 3 inches of rain in one day about a week ago and have had small rainshowers and drizzle frequently, We have had a lot of thunderstorms with high winds and some funnels reported. Mainly the weather here is much milder that the D/FW area. Others well my boyfriend lives in San Antonio and i live in fort worth, and he said its been hot most of the time and its only rained like 2 days in the past couple of weeks but nothing compared to the weather here in fort worth!!! I think that would be a great place to move...I'm thinkin about it also!!! hope this helps... I lived in and around the Metroplex and have been in San Antonio for about 8 years. Both places have unpredictable weather. Generally, we don't get ice-storms down here or snow for that matter as you do in D/FW. But it is a bit more humid. Typically, unless a front is coming in from Colorado, on average it is about 5 degrees warmer here than in D/FW at any given time. Tornadoes don't seem as prevalent here as they are in your area, but we did have a warning two nights ago in the county immediately west of Bexar County. I don't think we have thunderstorms as often as you do; more often it is drizzle that happens off and on for two or three days at a time. Also, if you have allergy problems, this is pretty much the allergy capital of the world, so be prepared for that. In particular if you are sensitive to mold, it can be difficult for you here. Weather has its good and bad points almost anywhere. I suggest you focus on other factors as you contemplate your move. For one, traffic, while still an issue, is much better here than it is in either Dallas or Houston. Good luck and God Bless as you contemplate all of this. I live in the countryside outside of Seguin...The weather has been a little odd lately, but we dont get it near as bad as San Antonio for some reason..We seem to be in a hole, where the storms skirt around us, at least the bad ones. Although we have had a couple of good rumbles the last couple of weeks..Bexer county got blasted as few nights ago, but it isnt near what you have up there..I wouldnt want to live in that area..Tornados are a mere threat here..Its beautiful out here. The 46 and 725 are nice areas..New Braunfels is 20 min away which is getting quite touristy, and San Antonio for us is too congested.... 22 years ago we had a snow storm that dropped 15 inches of snow in my drive way, so to say that we never get snow is not correct. About every three or four years we do get some ice and they close the roads and bridges. In 2004 There was enough ice on the road that I spun around and ended off the road and almost off the bridge, $800 damage to my truck. I have seen water over hwy 90 by Kelly AFB in the 70s that came up over hwy. 90 a drop of about 60 feet. I have many times seen the Medina river flow over 1604. and the last few years we have under gone drought. Over the last month we have had Hot days and cooler days. we have also had thunder storms and regular rain storms, with temps. running on the low side of in the fifties and on the high side in the mid nineties. This is a pretty normal spring around here. As for tornadoes, we seem to get them all the way around us but not very often in the city limits. I will add one more thing about tornadoes. no place is really safe from tornadoes. case in point. Westborough Massachusetts 1953 A tornado went across the area and killed several people and destroyed everything in its path. All and all the weather here is pretty nice most of the time. It is a little warm in the summer but with central air conditioning who cares I lived in San Antonio the year we got 15 inches of snow (January 1985... and we had temps in the 70s the weekend before). I shoveled Artis Gilmore's driveway that Saturday (he lived four doors down and I had the only snow shovel for 300 miles). How has it been the past month? I don't know, as I now live in Houston. |
