Best Residential areas in San Antonio? |
Travel Info What are the best areas to buy a home in San Antonio, considering school districts and the neighborhood in general? Any opinion on Alamo Ranch, Stone Oak, Potranca? Travel Tips I think that that is relative, I live in the Sea World area, (Potranco) and wouldn't live any other place but there are those that think that you have to live on the N., N.C. N.E. and now the south side close to Toyota, I am not sure but I think that right now the fastest growing area in San Antonio is the far West Side with some 60,000 new homes under construction, but this isn't the jewel it is all of the new businesses, Hospital, Hotels, Micro Soft service Center, City Corp, HEB Plus, Wal-Mart Super store, two colleges and the list goes on and on. Note: I failed to mention that at 151, and Potranco you can be down town San Antonio in 15 minutes or less Others North of 1604 off of 281. i agree with the first answer. nw area is one of the fastest growing areas and it has so much. stone oak is nice but i think a bit over rated. anywhere near 410, or ih10 is good also. Alamo Ranch is on the south side of town, I think, therefore in lower rated school districts. Stone Oak is over crowded, but upscale housing. The Potranco area is a mix of '80's housing boom and the recent housing boom since 2002ish. My parents live in that area and have been since 1984. Even though there is a presence of gang activity in every area of town, just like any other major city, the Stone Oak are it is less prevalent. (Probably due to the income levels!) The Potranco area has quite a bit, but the south side is worse. The Potranco area is in the Northside School District, the largest in the area. Good school district, but also dealing with over crowding. Stone Oak is in the Northeast school district, the highest ranking district in the city based on standardized testing results. Northeast is also dealing with terrible over crowding but a new middle school is opening in that area this fall and a new high school the following year. Good luck in your move! |
