Is san antonio a dump? |
Travel Info dont mean to offend people who live there....so sorry if i did. I looked into san antonio more becuase i posted here before and got mixed opinions. becuase i'm either going to louisville , ky or san antonio. and san antonio has alot more nicer apartments that are also cheaper and better looking than ones i found in ky. but i'm afraid so many people said negative things about it. i will visit it too see for myself but theres only so much you can see with pics on the computer. so anyone else have any opinions about san antonio? people wise, how clean and such. also does almost everyone speak spanish? Travel Tips I moved here in August from NYC and I love it here. The weather is wonderful the people are nice. I love the fact that it feels like a small town but there are over a million people living in san antonio. There is so much stuff you can do in San antonio. The river walk is really a nice place to visit . You can also go to the alamo . SA is also diverse and that makes it very unique and interesting. The only bad thing about SA is traffic ( at least on my side of town). The city is clean for the most part and there are a lot of people that speak spanish but almost everyone speaks english. I dont speak spanish and i am doing fine.I think san antonio is a wonderful place to live in and I am pretty sure that you will love it here Others I live in Houston and drive to San Antonio to get away from the inner city. I mostly visit my step-parents over in Hill Country Village. Every City has it's bad parts, in Houston we have the ghettos and River Oaks, The North side and Galleria Area, San Antonio has it's god parts and bad parts of town. I say stay more towards bitter road near the Airport thet have great apts, new, and a lovely atmosphere. And no everyone does not speak spanish. San antonio is diverse, though it is a big Hispanic market, it is a bit ignorant for anyone to say San Antonio is only for spanish speakers. I'm sure you'll love it! Over all it's a great place to live No , but 1/3 of Houston is. theres tons to do here: 6 Flags, Sea World, river walk, alamo, military bases. The cost of living is good. depending on what part of the city, the schools are good. TONS of new housing. Shopping malls everywhere. The military brought us here about 9 years ago and i have no intentions of leaving. It's a nice place to live. OH, and i only speak english, but yeah, there's a lot of spanish and mexican influence. only one little think i dont like.....it's hotter than blazes here in the summer!!! I can understand why you are asking this question. I will say a few things about San Antonio. I live here and have for a number of years, but understand I live here by choice. I was raised in central Massachusetts, and most of my family are there. I raised a family here but have one child that lives here and one that lives outside of Memphis. The people for the most part that I know in the Memphis area are all MDs and PHDs, they are both intellectually and financially well to do and we are a home in their homes. We are retired and have enough income that we can live just about where ever we want to. We choose the Sea World area of San Antonio. I have heard some folks get on in here and espouse that this is a dirty city. If they think that this is a dirty city I can tell they aren't worldly enough to make that statement, I know that they haven't seen very many cities. We are no dirtier than any other city. Housing costs here are very low. I have a 2400 sq. ft. house and it is not old It's value right now is about $125,000 it is a four bed room with 2 1/2 baths 2 car garage this same house in Westborough, Massachusetts would sell for about $500,000 to $600,000. With the much lower cost of housing a person no longer needs to earn a futune just to buy a house. There is always some thing to do around here, places to go, and very friendly people to meet, I won't be going back to the north east,.......just in case you were wondering I have lived here for about half of my life, and I am 62 yrs. old. I will make one other observation for you This isn't 100% but seems to be pretty well true. The first year that a person lives here they don't like it the second year they feel like they can tolerate it and the third year you can't get rid of them. I have lived in several different countries and many cities and have been to almost all states including Alaska and Hawaii San Antonio is great..! KY is not! |
