Small Road trip: Houston to Austin to San Antonio? |
Travel Info I'm going on a small road trip for the first time with friends and I want to know some really great places to stop in between for a little bit of fun and camera whoring. =D We're going to start out in Houston, and make our way to Austin top pick up a friend and then roll on over to San Antonio. I want to have a list of a few pit stops that we could stop at. Anything between Houston and Austin, Austin and San Antonio, and then San Antonio to Houston. Can somebody please help!? Travel Tips You should definitely stop at San Marcos or New Braunfules. There are lots of stuff to do there. It's a great small area with great tourist attractions. Some include the Wonder Cave or Schlitterbahn. Then there are also some outlet malls there as well. Fiesta Texas has coupons all over the place.... Walgreen's, Fiesta, Dairy Queen and other plmeaces have coupons. GOOD LUCK! Oh, you might also want to search the web for gas stations that have cheap gas and plan your stop around that. Between Austin and San Antonio is San Marcos that has great outlets stores. And right before getting to San Antonio there is New Braunfels where there are many places to stop and take pictures. As for between Houston and Austin I cannot help. As for the coupons for Fiesta Texas you can get them at IHOP or get tickets on line and you can save about $7. Hope that helps. San Marcos and New Braunfels are always cool while driving between Austin and SA. Check out the Six Flags website (www.sixflags.com) for specifics on their current promotions. I am sure the site also lists a phone number and you can call their marketing department to see what they have going. SeaWorld, the Alamo, the Riverwalk, and the McNay Art Museum are also worth visiting in SA. On the way home to Houston, you can stop at Shiner Texas and see the Shiner brewery. I have never been there but have heard it is cool. I live in SA so I have never traveled between Austin and Houston. I can't speak to that part of your question. There is a lot of hill country out there and don't be alarmed if you see alot of wild animals. San Marcos has a GREAT outlet mall. If you get a chance stop there as well. San Marcos is between Austin and SA. And yes Six Flags still advertises on coke cans and at IHOP. |
