My fiance & I are going to San Antonio this summer. What do you recommend doing down there besides the......? |
Travel Info obvious theme parks & riverwalk. Is there anything else that you wouldn't be able to find on the internet? I want this to be a memorable vacation, thanks! Travel Tips Here is a link for you to check out: http://www.sanantoniocvb.com/visitors/th... Others Give Riverwalk a big miss. It's not worth the time--- one end has some very fine restaurants but no authentic local cuisine and all very high prices; they are mostly hotel restaurants. The other end is a total tourist trap--- all the restaurants are chains, nothing there that you can't get in your own home town, no reason to get excited over Johnny Rockets, and there is no character at all. Riverwalk used to be great but now it is very un-great. Try the South Alamo neighborhood instead. There are some very interesting places there---- interesting little shops, and some really great, really affordable restaurants. Much more character than Riverwalk and a lot less expensive! Besides the Alamo, which is downtown, there is a Spanish Mission trail. It has several old missions that are all within easy drive from the city. If you like caverns go north to Natural Bridge Caverns. It is about 30 miles out of town. Take public transportation, Texas drivers are full of rage. Was down there 3 weeks ago.Stay clear of the east, south, and west side of town.Downtown is as bad as New Orleans for muggers.I'd rather go to Del Rio. Travel out of SA and see the Hill Country... Bandera ( dude ranches, 11th. Street Bar, etc...Dixie Dude Ranch is the best...ride a horse ....lol...my hubby works there...name is Ringo), Kerrville, Boerne, Vanderpool, Medina...some of the prettiest places you will ever see in Texas..... Check the internet for maps, etc. Have fun!!! Also in SA visit the Buckhorn Museum awesome i live in Bandera!!!! |
