What is a good beach to go to from san antonio.? |
Travel Info we are visiting san antonio and was thinking about relaxing one day on the beach. what would be the closest and nicest one to travel to. Travel Tips Gee it is funny but I grew up on the New England coast about a mile from New Port RI I have never thought of the beach as being just salt water. Around San Antonio we have several lakes and they are a lot closer to San Antonio than Corpus Christi (125 plus away) There is Canyon Lake, Lake McQueeney, Medina Lake, plus there are a number of rivers for floating. All of these places have public beaches. We prefer Medina Lake, but you won't go wrong at any of the places that I have listed. Have fun Others About the nearest would be Corpus Christi. They have some nice beaches on the gulf there, but, you have to go to the island at Aransas Pass. That is for the Gulf of Mexico. If you are looking for a "beach" on a lake, there are some water parks at Seaworld, and Schlitterbaum near San Antonio. For the ocean, probably Corpus Christi, but I would go to Galveston. There is a Canyon Lake north of San Antonio but I don't know much about it. Check with the locals. I think you would have more fun in Port Aransas, or the Rockport-Fulton area. I agree. Corpus christi is nice, but if you travel 20 more miles to Port Aransas, you will love it. I lived there for a year. Port A is a small, beach town. Great beach, great places to get seafood & shop. I personally dislike the Galveston beach. Corpus is about 2 1/2 hours from San Antonio. Beach? none in SA... Too long of a drive to Padre...CC isnt that far..maybe 3 hours its ok but nothing too great about it either. Port Aransas is your best bet. I don't know where your from but the beaches in Texas are not the beautiful blue ones you see elsewhere. To be honest I'd skip the beach and do the Guadalupe river. You can get in a tube and go down nice and easy. It's fun and close to San Antonio in New Braunfels which is where the best and possibly biggest Water Park is (Schlitterbahn). |
