San Antonio to Galveston? |
Travel Info need to get to galveston by 8:00 am driving fom san antonio what time should I leave? yahoo map say 4 hrs can some one tell REAL time? Travel Tips I used to make this run often when my son went to medical school there. I live on the far side of San Antonio (near Sea World) From my house to the end of I 45 it is 273 miles and it usually took us about 4.5 hours. If I was going to go to Galveston and had to be there by 8:00 am I would turn off in Sealy and go the rest of the way down Rt. 6. Even though the traffic is going to be heavy around Sugarland You should already be through there before their rush traffic in the morning. Going through Houston at rush hour you will not make your 8:00 am appointment. Even getting on the belt way around Houston going to I 45 you still won't make your appointed time. Others That is about right. Unless you are going to speed, then you might get 2-3 depending on how much of a speed demon you are. I really wouldn't suggest that, so many small cities in between which give out huge tickets. I know this from experience :( Frankly, I'd allow more than 4 hours. I bet it is about 245 miles or so and you'll be hitting the the Houston rush hour if you are going on a week day. Just driving from SA-Houston I've been held up in traffic in west Harris County and delayed by congestion almost an hour at off-peak times. If I really, really have to be there at 8am on a weekday, I'd allow 5-6 hours. thats about right have a great trip- : ) Give yourself about 5 hrs to get there. It just depends on what time you leave. The traffic coming into Houston can slow you up a lot. My hometown (galveston) Travel to and from these areas a lot. |
