Travel Tips
I'm not sure what kind of advice you are seeking. As to the ignorant responses full of punctuational and grammatical errors, these are clearly disturbed and insecure individuals.

I lived in different areas of the city and they all offered something great. I lived downtown, in Balcones Heights, the Medical Center, and most recently in Stone Oak. My favorite things to do though tended to be in the surrounding areas. I went to New Braunfels almost every weekend.

San Antonio has great shopping, great restaurants and the Alamo Drafthouse - a movie theater where there is a full menu/bar and they serve you at your seat. Awesome if you are a movie buff.

The only reason we left is because my husband is an AF officer and we got orders to AZ.

Like I said, I'm not sure exactly what you are looking for advice on (Real Estate, activities, location, etc.) but I am glad to help if I can.

ew gross dont move to texas! go somewhere with CULTURE....INTELLIGENT PEOPLE... blech who likes texas? oh my god.... what a sad story...how about NEW YORK...jesus christ..
why?
San Antonio is a really nice city for families. Generally the North Central area is the most wanted to live in but the Northwest and Northeast are also nicer. School systems are decent in those areas as well. San Antonio is pretty conservative. Some of the churches here are actually know all over. All in all a nice place to live.
This is really a good city if you give it a chance.
Living in Texas is like nothing else if just for the size of it all.
Most people in SA are very friendly-- whether in stores, restaurants or any other public places.

I think that there are many, many people who like to criticize this place-- but it really depends on what you're looking for.
Most of the people who don't like it here are looking for all night partying.
SA stops and closes down at normal times (2am) most days.
It's hard to find fun things to do in the middle of the night, but if you're looking for culture, food, music, friendly people and lots of space, SA is a great place.
We're close to everything. 2 hrs to the coast. 1 hr to Austin. 3hrs to Houston. very close to New Braunfels for summers at Schlitterbahn (voted #1 in most places I've seen, nationally).

I think that people have a REALLY bad misconception of SA and TX-- thinking that we're all either cowboys with boots and horses.....or just a bunch of Mexicans in SA.
There are lots of people who wear boots and hats and drive trucks here....that's a given...and there are lots of Hispanics in the city-- but that's what gives our city most of its flavor.
Go to Fiesta once and you'll see all the cultures that we have to offer.
This is really a great place...and believe me, I've been ALL over the world. I don't mean to compare it to say, London, Paris, New York....(all places I've been)-- but this place has its own life and its own character to offer.

But if you don't like it here....that's fine.
We're always here-- in case you change your mind.
San Antonio is pretty much like a lot of places. Some people are not going to like it and others will love it. I fall into the group that loves it. I came here in the Military in 1963 and had been back several time and then when I thought about where we wanted to retire and finish raising our children we couldn't wait to get back to San Antonio. There are several reasons why San Antonio. We really liked a multi-cultural society, children grow up and have to live in a society that is made up of many different ethnicity's, we wanted our children to blend into that kind of society. We also love the much lower cost of living, The house that I live in, in southern New England would cost me about $600,000 here my cost was about $150,000. I should also mention that this is a very family friendly city with a small town attitude and big city amenities. Now for some advice No matter where it is that you decide to buy you are not going to feel sorry down the road but there are a few choices better than others. I would recommend the Sea World area. This is the NISD (Northside Independent School District) one of the best in the state I happen to live here so maybe I am a little bit biased. So I will tell you that also the NEISD (North East Independent School District) is also very good, both of these school districts are the best in the city. The school where my children graduated from is rated in the top 20 schools in the nation. If you locate in either the NW, N, NE you are not going to be disappointed. Welcome to San Antonio I wish you a successeful move.
