Travel Tips I was a mail man for almost 20 years and I will tell you that there are some things that are not really fair to say. Some one said I mailed a letter from here to Houston and it took a week. Do I believe this sure At about 6 million pieces of mail a day I am sure that not every thing goes just the way it is supposed to go. Generally it is over night do not confuse what I just said with over night delivery. There are some things you can do when mailing a letter to Houston or any where else. Use (correct)ZIP codes. Use correct addresses. and pay attention at what time the mail pick up is from the point of mailing. This is an example of how people screw up and then blame the Postal Service. They are sending a letter to John Smith III, and he lives at 123 Apple Drive some where TX. 78245. the following is what we so often see John Smith Apple Some Where Tx, 87245 On Apple Drive there are three John Smiths In the community of Some Where there is a Apple Drive, Apple Way, Apple Hwy., Apple Blvd. Apple Street, Apple Road, Apple Park way, this goes on and on. Some Where TX. 78245 and not 87245 I have business dealings with a man who lives in Houston and it usually takes from 1 to 2 days. A lot has to do what time that letter hits the post office and if the address is really correct. Addendum; In the 7 days that it took for the letter to get to Houston the San Antonio Post Office handled 42,000,000 pieces of mail, That is just San Antonio Others 3 days ( if you give your mail man a christmas tip) In my experience, a lot longer than you would think. I mailed one from SAT to Houston and it took nearly a week. I mail one from SAT to NYC and it gets there in two days. Go figure. approximately three business days at most personal expirience |
