San antonio tx good pleis to live? |
Travel Info San antonio tx good pleis to live? Travel Tips I have lived there on and off for nearly 15 years (out of 40) and can think of no better place to enjoy diversity at its best. The only place I can think of where the two predominant cultures (Anglo and Hispanic) get along so well and celebrate what they have in common, and what is unique to the other. I have lived in Milwaukee for the past 8 years and am planning on moving back to SAT before this year is over. Others I think it is. There is a huge cultural diversity, we are very aware and proud of out history here. It gets kind of hot in the summer, but winter is usually very short, and the rest of the year the weather is fair. We are close to the coast and hill country. For being the 7th largest city in the nation, it still has somewhat of a smaller (not small) town feel to it. I was raised in the New England, but I have lived here in San Antonio for about 35 years. I am retired and have money to live where ever I might want to. I own a small ranch about 110 miles from here and could easily move there but I would miss San Antonio. I first came here while in the military, we had to move to another assignment and couldn't wait to come back. Frankly I had a tear in my eye when we passed the You are entering San Antonio sign. When my wife and I decided where it was that we wanted to retire from the Military it was a moot question, we already knew it was San Antonio. It was more like what neighborhood do we want to live in. We really enjoyed the lower cost of living, Both of us were raised where there is a lot of snow and the temperature is so low that if you spit it froze before it hit the ground. There was another thing that was to us very important, we wanted to raise our children in a multi-cultural society. some one stole my thunfer a little bit they said it and it is so true that we are a super big city but we have a small town feel. I own a small side by side ATV and I drive it around the block every so often to keep the battery charged up in it. I broke down in front of this man's house and I didn't know him. He came out looked and then went into his garage and came back with a new fuel line and fixed my ATV. I asked him what I owed him and he said nothing the thank-you was his pay. The point is that in most places this would not have happened. More than once I have had people follow me to their destination and I wouldn't take money for it either. This is just two examples of how friendly this city really is. Personally I love it, I come from a small town near Corpus and It is a city but it still feels like a small town. I love the events that go on here like Fiesta and Cinco De Mayo and such. Alot of history and great Amusement Park attractions. And of coarse the ALMIGHTY SAN ANTONIO SPURS. It's really fun when we win Championships cause everybody parties downtown. I've lived here all my life but have gotten to travel to some extent and though I've enjoyed visiting all the other places there are very few places I'd even consider moving to. It's a big city with all the amenities that come with that, of course that means it also comes with the negatives of a city(traffic, crime, etc.) but compared to other cities it's not that bad. Like another person mentioned we also have a small town feel in some ways(mostly in good ways). If money were no object maybe I'd spend part of the year someplace else(not during basketball season though) because i do have a special spot in my heart for Dublin or any other Irish town(Actually Dublin reminds me of San Antonio in some ways as does Ireland and Texas). But if I do spend the rest of my life here I'll consider myself lucky ! yes, and it's even a good place to live!! YES IT IS!!!!!!!!!!!!!Thats my homecity i luv it there.GO SPURS!!!!!!!!!!! |
