How long does it take letters to get to the AFB in San Antonio from Atlanta? |
Travel Info How long does it take letters to get someone in basic training at the AFB in San Antonio from Atlanta? I sent my first ones yesterday. Thanks. Travel Tips I am retired from both the Air Force and the United States Post Office. If all goes well 2 to 3 days. The delivery on base is no different than any other place. First Class mail is first class and receives more attention than any other class of mail How ever there is Express mail and that is over night in most places but not all. The mail that goes to the base is no different than if it goes to some town around the San Antonio area. The process is that the mail is broken down and sent to the area post offices that includes the base post office. first class goes out to tha area post offices the day that it comes in for the next day delivery. It is broken down and then sent to the different offices. All first class mail must go out on the day that it comes into the Post Office. Now that I have said all of this, please keep in mind that if you didn't address it properly it might take longer. Things like zip codes, proper Unit number and name. If it is a common name then you really should use an initial ie. John Johnson I would use John J, Johnson to more identify him. The time of the day that you mail your letter to here is also very important, if you miss the pick up them it won't go until next day. I will tell you that the Post Office in San Antonio handles about 6,000,000 pieces of mail a day and I would guess that Atlanta does also. With 12,000,000 pieces do I think that some thing could go wrong not often but it has been known to happen. Please make sure to do your part and things will go well 2 to 3 days. Source(s): US Air Force Tsgt./ret. US Postal Service Carrier/ret. Other Travel Tips You need to give it at least 5 to 7 days. Usually about a week because it has to go through alot of routing. Most likely though 3-4 days 2 to 3 days to get to Lackland AFB, another day processing there, then another day at the Squadron. You are looking at about 5 days. At least that is how long it took when I was going through Basic Training. |
