Is it Safe on the Guadalupe river? |
Travel Info I am going to be tubing on the river this Friday June 1st. Im not sure exaclty what spot yet, but ive herd that it was flooded over the weeekend and its not safe right now. does any one know for sure? Travel Tips I went tubing in the Guadalupe River last year and I would never go tubing on that river again. 5 of the people in our group got hurt pretty bad including myself. The Comal River is a much cleaner and safer river. If you must go down the Guadalupe river, do not use Rockin R tubing company. If a storm breaks out and everyone has to get out of the river, they are very un-prepared to deal with a large number of people. I busted my foot open and had to get stitches but when I tried to tell/show one of their staff members this so that I could get on the bus before everyone else, he grabbed and shoved me!!! Others They are only allowing rafting with a guide on the Guadalupe and the Comal is closed to tubing as of right now. You should call ahead to the tubing outfitters the day before to make sure you can tube where you want to. A good website to check out before you go is: http://www.nbpard.org/rivers.htm... We were at the crossing in New Braunfels on Sunday when it happened...Everyone was evacuated because the water was going over its banks by 2 ft..It is still closed right now due to the river running fast..Not very safe to go on till it settles down..You can go on the web and find out for sure for your trip on fri...Just look up Rockin' R 'in new braunfels. and they should have some kind of schedule...The best place to go tubing is in Gruene, thats where rockin r is.
