Has anyone floated down the comal river this year? |
Travel Info i think the guadalupe river will be closed this weekend so everyone will have to go down the comal...has anyone ever floated down that river if so are the rules really as bad as i have been reading? Travel Tips Its A great River to float! Yes, the Guadalupe river is closed. Yes the rules suck! you can not have glass of any kind, no styrofoam of any kind, coolers can not be larger then 16-quart cooler - which holds 20 12-ounce cans - while floating on the Comal and Guadalupe rivers within the city limits. anything bigger gets you a $216.00 ticket this may help you!also the best place to get your tubes is CORNER TUBES 120 S LIBERTY AVE 830-626-6687 CORNER OF COMMON AND LIBERTY cornertubes@yahoo.com FREE PARKING RESTROOMS, ICE, PICNIC TABLE Corner Tubes is located on the Comal River across the street from Hinman Island Park and the Prince Solms Tube Chute. The Comal River has a history all its own. It is the shortest non-navagational river in the United States, it is spring fed and retains a year round temperature of approximately 72 degrees. We are open 9am. to 7pm., seven days a week. In addition to our ALL DAY RENTALS we also offer Late day, Overnight, and Multiple day rentals We except credit cards, cash and in state checks and CHECK OUT OUR EARLY BIRD WEEKEND SPECIAL SEE YOU ON THE CORNER, Tell them Mary sent you. You may even get a discount, maybe. here are the city rule this will help you in the furture as well. City of New Braunfels Water Recreation Rules Comal and Guadalupe Rivers 路 No glass 路 No foam containers 路 No volume drinking devices 路 No containers under 5 fluid oz. 路 Noise devices may not be audible beyond 50 ft. 路 No jumping from bridges, dams, and trees 路 No littering 路 Maximum permitted cooler size is 16qt 路 Coolers must have a locking mechanism on the lid (zipper, Velcro, latch, cord) 路 One cooler per person 路 Vessels on the rivers may not be over 18ft in length 路 Life jackets are recommended for children under eight and weak swimmers Comal River Inflatable floatation devices on the Comal River must be less than 5ft. in diameter or width at the narrowest point. Limit of two tubes per person on the Comal River Canoes and Kayaks may not use the Last Tubers Exit on the Comal River on weekends and holidays. Guadalupe River Inside the City Limits of New Braunfels When the river flow on the Guadalupe River is above 500cfs, it is mandatory for all children under eight years of age to wear a life jacket. When the river flow on the Guadalupe River is above 750cfs, it is mandatory for all individuals to wear a life jacket. When the river flow on the Guadalupe River is above 1000cfs, tubing is not allowed. The only allowed recreation is raft trips. River Entrance and Exit Rules No open alcoholic containers allowed in River Acres Park, Last Tubers Exit, Cypress Bend Park, Hinman Island Park, and Prince Solms ParkYes and it's absolutely awesome! I'm heading up there next weekend. The comal is more relaxing and doesn't have as many rapids, and the rules bascially say not to bring glass of any kind. Hope this helps! |
