Need things to do during the day in San Antonio besides tourist attractions for husband and I.? |
Travel Info We have been there before and done the Alamo visit, the Buckhorn Saloon, etc. Would like to find something trendy and unusual that would occupy time during the day. Are planning to spend one entire day on the riverwalk and several nights there also. Travel Tips You can go to Southtown which is just south of downtown San Antonio. Actually it's near the King William Historical District, a few blocks south of the convention center. Southtown has art galleries, unique stores and restaurants. It's very nice, especially in the evenings because some of the clubs and restaurants offer live music. You can ask the concierge at the hotel your staying at for directions from your hotel. Have fun!!!! Others go to the Mercado , about a mile west of the Alamo...and if you are young at heart you can go to fiesta texas or sea world......... If you want to spend $$, or just window shop at the new La Cantera mall at I10 and 1604, by Fiesta TX. It has all the upscale shops, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom's, etc. You could also check out the new Palladium Theatres in that same area by Fiesta TX. It's a beautiful new IMAX theatre. Really cool place. Southtown, which was mentioned, is also a good idea. Or spend the day in New Braunfels at Schilterbaun, the largest waterpark in the world. New Braunfels is only a short drive north of SA. You could visit the Hill Country, Fredericksburg TX. Very cute place, too. We have the Institute of Texan Cultures which is a museum of all the different peoples who have come to live in the area we now call Texas for the last 5,000-10,000 years. How about the Blue Star Art Gallery, or the San Antonio Museum of Art. We have the San Antonio Zoo in Brackenridge Park,or the Witte(pronounced "witty") Museum on Broadway Street. |
