I'm going to San Antonio for the first time ...? |
Travel Info i'm going to san antonio for the first time since i was young (i don't even remember anything) Where are the MUST go places i should invest my time in. i'm gonna try and just go for the weekend (i'm only a couple of hours drive away) but i want to make sure i make the best of it. should i stick with sea world one day, and the alamo/river walk the next? what about fiesta texas...is that any good? Travel Tips Juan, I am 30 years old, and I wish that I could be seeing San Antonio for the first time, because it is such a magical place. I lived there for 8 years. My parents have a place there. And if I was going to introduce San Antonio to someone in one weekend, this is what I would do: When you get there, go downtown and park at the Rivercenter mall parking garage. Make sure you get the parking ticket validated by one of the stores at the mall. http://www.shoprivercenter.com/main/inde... Go explore the Alamo. http://www.thealamo.org/ Walk along the Riverwalk. http://www.thesanantonioriverwalk.com/... Eat somewhere along the Riverwalk. A lot of restaurants along the river are not the best, so use this guide to choose wisely: http://www2.mysanantonio.com/salife/dini... Top off the evening by taking a trip up the Tower of Americas. http://www.toweroftheamericas.com/... The next day, go back Sea World. Fiesta Texas is fine, but there are theme parks very similar to it all over the country, and as a poster mentioned above, there are only 3 SeaWorlds. If you have time on the last day, explore whatever intrigues you. Use the link to the San Antonio CVB the first poster provided. I recommend exploring the King Williams District. Dine at Rosario's, one of the best Mexican food restaurants in the country. http://www.rosariossa.com/ Or if you just have time for breakfast, go to the Guenther House for a breakfast you will never forget. http://www.guentherhouse.com/ Have a wonderful time! Others http://www.sanantoniocvb.com/ here is a great site to start at lots of great info and events Sea world is boring, Fiesta texas has nothing new so that makes it boring. The river walk thats reallllllllllly boring, and the alamo u could fall alseep in there its so boring. nothing kool here. The Tower of America is cool place to go.It's that tall long building it has a restrunant on the top.And you can go on the balcony up top. Six Flags rocks my socks! Heh, well, it does rule. There's a water park and stuff there (go on the Superman; remember to bring a barf bag!). Well, I have a fear of heights, roller coasters, and water slides, but I overcame my heights and water slide fear at Splashtown. It's a few minutes from downtown on I35N, and near the SBC Center (season's over, sorry, buddy). Or there's Schilliterbahn, outside 1604 to the Northeast, near New Bruanfels. Stay around the NWside or North Central, and you're fine. Your plan sounds good. Also, if you travel north on 281, you can go toobing (that's how the place spells it) on the Guadalupe River. It's pretty relaxing. Up the block from Fiesta is La Cantera, an outdoor mall (although I prefer North Star Mall myself; then again, who wants to hang out at a mall on vacation...). The Witte Museum has some interesting stuff, and the Botanical Garden is nearby. Enjoy your visit! Some one said that San Antonio was boring, I'll bet that she would find the Space shuttle boring also. I like Sea World a lot, but You can not do everything at Sea World in one day, it is a minimum of 2 days. There are only three Sea Worlds and we are lucky enough to have one here in San Antonio. The Alamo, to see it all, and read and visit the show is going to take a few hours. Again this is one of a kind. We have the fabulous River Walk, again this is one of a kind, others now are trying to emulate it but none have been as successful as San Antonio, again one of a kind. Tower of the Americas pretty unique It was built for the Worlds Fair in 1968. Again this is a one of a kind. The Missions Trail this is also unique to San Antonio. If you were making a trip to Boston and really wanted to see the historical Boston I can not imagine that you wouldn't see, "old Iron Sides," The old North Church or Bunker Hill. What I am trying to tell you if you think that it might be some time before you get back here I would do my darnedest to see all of the unique places we have here and then when you come another time do some of the other things that are not really unique to San Antonio, in any case have a good visit with us and come on back |
