In San Antonio, How can the cost of living be lower if taxes are so high? |
Travel Info I am moving to SA and have heard that it has a great cost of living but the taxes on real estate are more than double what i currently pay in Florida. (we also have no state income tax) Travel Tips The cost of living is effected by several different things that range from lack of industry to illegal aliens working for less than a living wage forcing the rest of us to work for less or not work. Until just recently we had a very small industrial base and with out it we are looking at service jobs that pay very little. This is changing very fast. The banking industry has moved here and more and more are coming every day. As for taxes, it is funny the mayor and the city council will tell you very quickly that they haven't raised taxes and have not done so in several years. They are not lying,......well kind of not lying. It is true that they have not gone up on the tax rate, they don't have to, they keep raising our evaluation I went up another $12,000 last year, and it isn't just me it is every house in San Antonio. Others california = expensive try california. lol There is a lower minimum wage and lower economy prices like groceries and gas and anywhere in texas thats not near a beach is a lower cost of living. I live in southern california and CA and FL are two states with high tourism lots of sought out beaches and resorts and high costs of living. It all depends on where you live. What your looking for, and how much your willing to pay. You can get great homes at low prices but the neighborhoods may be rough. Click : http://www.realtystore.com/traffic/contr...
