Travel Info I'm moving to oceanside in june. Travel Tips Oceanside is basicaly a major city, but the biggest one around is San Diego. Oceanside is in North San Diego County. San Diego basically stretches from the Mexican border to Camp Pendleton. Oceanside has basically everything you'd be looking for in a big city. For concerts, you'll have to go down to San Diego or north to Irvine. The closest big airports are San Diego, Irvine, and LAX. Oceanside has a couple of Wal-Marts, a couple movie theaters, plenty of shopping and restaurants, golfing, jobs, etc. Carlsbad has a nice beach. Source(s): Lived in Oceanside for seven years. It's in San Diego County, just a little ways south of Orange County. Nearest cities: Camp Pendleton South, CA (4.5 miles ), Vista, CA (5.9 miles ), Carlsbad, CA (6.5 miles ), Camp Pendleton North, CA (6.6 miles ), Lake San Marcos, CA (10.1 miles ), Bonsall, CA (10.2 miles ), San Marcos, CA (11.7 miles ), Encinitas, CA (12.1 miles ). Other cities around here are Carlsbad, San Marcos, Vista & Escondido. Driving to San Diego can be a real pain sometimes when you drive down "the 5." If you have kids, stay away from Oceanside High because of gangs. El Camino is better. Watch out for gang areas and sections that have large illegal alien populations. |
