Thoughts on San Diego.?

Travel Info
I will be heading to San Digo in March for a week trip with some friends. What are some top "must do" and what to stay away from. Anyone know what the weather is like in March? Any great places to visit? Sea World? Whale watching?!?! Anything?! Is it easy to get around... etc.!!! Thanks so so much!

Travel Tips
You should have a GREAT time.

Here are some must-sees:
1) Balboa park, with its zoo and IMAX theater, and museums. Something for everyone.
2) The wild animal park, a little bit of a drive out of town, but really wonderful.
3) Go to Mission Bay and ride the big wooden roller coaster, or rent roller skates and roll along the boardwalk. While there, eat at the beachside "World Famous" restaurant. Casual, seafood and salads.
4) Take a hike in Torrey Pines park in La Jolla. There are lovely nature trails
5) Visit Coronado and the "Hotel Del". It has a museum in the basement that is free and quite interesting.
6) go to the end (by the sea) of Newport Avenue in Ocean Beach and have grilled Mahi tacos and beer at the South Beach Grill. Even if you don't drink, try the best fish tacos anywhere there!
7) Sea World is OK, but I'd do 1-6 first
8) Whale watching and deep sea diving are possibilities but make sure no one gets seasick.
9) for shopping for souvenirs, try Old Town San Diego. Lots of cute little shops selling south american goods from Mexico, Guatemala, other places. While in Old town, try the Coyote Cafe on Old Town avenue about a block south of the main gate.

Places you must eat:
1) Kemo Sabe, Indigo Grill, Island Prime - all owned by Chef Debra Scott, all in different and interesting and scenic locations. All medium-expensive, so make these your special meals.
2) Celadon up in Hillcrest for excellent and affordable Thai. Best Thai at any price!
3) Previously-mentioned south beach grill and World Famous

Weather is about 70 degrees year round, mid-day.
It's easy to get around if you drive, but public transportation is not as great as in some cities.

Others
Thanks so much... your answer was wonderful. I cant wait to go.

If your in San Diego go to Wild Animal Park is a must.
Or watch a live polo match close up or go across the street to watch hunters and jumpers.
(that's my favorite intersection in all of Ca.)

Weather:
March 66High 52Low 67%Humidity 1.60' rainfall 70% sunshine
San Diego enjoys beautiful weather year round with an average daily temperature of 70.5 degrees Fahrenheit (21.4degrees Celsius). A marked feature of the climate is the wide variation in temperature within short distances due to the topography of the land. You can enjoy coastal, mountain and desert environments all in the space of one day.
we went to these places when we were there:
wild animal park
san diego zoo
sea world
its pretty easy to get around if u rent a car
don't know about the weather
hope u have fun
Getting around San Diego pretty much means having a car. Public transportation is pretty crummy.

Lots to do, but it's a bit early for ocean related fun (beaches, kayaking). Be sure to see Balboa Park (with its museums) and San Diego zoo. Hang around downtown gaslamp district for nightlife. Check out Coronada island's Hotel Del. Seaworld is a maybe (not everyones cupatea).
Anytime is a good time to visit San Diego. The weather is almost always perfect!!

I would suggest that you go to the major attractions like Sea World, the San Diego zoo, and even the Wild Animal Park is fun. But try not to miss going to Old Town, La Jolla beaches, Blacks Beach, the Museums in Balboa Park are really cool, Coronado island, Shelter Island, Mission Bay, The Lighthouse down in Point Loma, just to name a few. Also, while you are down there, you could ride the Trolley all the way down to Tijuana. What I like to do, is park at Mission Valley, which is a big Mall. There is a Trolley station there. You can get on there, and the Trolley will take you all the way to the Border! If you want to see some really nice San Diego countryside, drive through Rancho Santa Fe, through Fairbanks Ranch, all the way to Del Mar and Solano Beach. It's breathtaking!! Oh, yeah, don't forget to see downtown while you are there!

I grew up in San Diego, and I still go there about 2 times a month to visit relatives and friends.

Have fun and enjoy your vacation...!!!
