Carmel Valley is a borough in northern San Diego. It's not actually a city. It borders the cities of San Diego and Poway, an inland community. It's about a half hour north of the airport, twenty minutes east of the beach. The area is an upperclass area with wealthy homeowners, thriving shopping centers and several golf courses.
