If you want a nice family beach to take your kids then Coronado or La Jolla Shores is perfect, they both have nice flat beaches so the surf isn't too big for the kids and they don't allow alcohol like the other beaches so you don't have to put up with the drunk kids and partying people. However, if you are looking for the party beach where you want to enjoy a few beers on the beach, remember no glass bottles on the beach, then Pacific Beach or Mission Beach are where you want to go. Plenty of bars and restaurants within walking distance of Pacific beach also. Ocean Beach offers a hippy type hangout with some smaller bars and restaurants and a lot of antique shops. |
