San Diego Hotels Advice?

My husband and I are going to be travelling to San Diego in February and I was wondering if anyone had some suggestions for hotels in either the Downtown or Mission Bay area? We are looking at budget accommodation that is clean, safe and under $120 US Dollars per night.

Whenever I go to San Diego (or anywhere else) I first visit biddingfortravel.com (this is not a link to a website I am affiliated with) It lists hotels that have come up in bidding on Priceline and what prices they were won at. So much information here! I stayed in Del Mar over New Years and got it for $55 when the hotel website lowest price was $125...that's less than a motel 6! I have stayed at the Omni downtown SD for $101, the Manchester Hyatt dowtown, I paid $99. It all depends on time of year and if there is a big event going on in the city.

This site has saved me a ton of money over the past 7 years.

February is the off-season. You may be able to get a pretty nice hotel for $120. Check on http://www.hotels.com
