I am going on a trip to Cali with my gf and thought scuba diving will be a fun activity. I just want to know what its like? I never scuba dived before. Is the one in avalon a good one?

Avalon is a great place to dive, but I wouldn't do it as a first time diver (personally). The biggest problem is that the water is so clear and the drop off so radical you can quickly dive to far down. They do certification dives off the point, but I don't think they offer single dives. If there is a snorkeling session offered - that's the next best thing. Like I said, the water is incredibly clear and there is so much sea live in the reserve it's a great dive/snorkel. You can also feed the fish frozen peas - they love them. And make sure whatever you do your wetsuit fits well - the water's cold!
