What is better Mission Beach, Pacific Beach, Mission Bay,or La Jolla Beaches for kids in early March? |
Travel Info What is better Mission Beach, Pacific Beach, Mission Bay,or La Jolla Beaches for kids in early March? Travel Tips Try Bird Rock between La Jolla & Pacific Beach. During low tide you can show the kids some tide pools along with some secluded beaches. Others I was just at La Jolla two weekends ago and had a great time. I went ocean kyaking in the moring, had lunch with my wife & daughter, and then went to beach to let my girl play. There's a place called Children's Pool that is a breakwater that was taken over by seals nearby where the kids can get close to the animals. I don't know about the others, but there's my 2 cents... Mission Bay because there are playgrounds and kites and jetskis to see and fiesta island to wander around and kids ride bikes on the paths but it is extra windy being next to the freeway. Small kids might enjoy the bay side of Mission Beach it may be more out of the wind at times but bucket and shovel stuff, too peaceful for some bigger kids. La Jolla does have tidepools but I'd think they are too cold now. The LJChildren'sCove has a seawall and Sea Lions on the beach there, but this is a just look situation. Hope this helps From S.D. La Jolla, all the way!!! Mission Beach has Belmont Park but it is not as clean and has a lot of local kids/ homeless hanging around the boardwalk. Being a San Diego kid myself, I'd have to go for Mission Bay. La Jolla does have the children's pool, but if seals are there, you're not allowed anywhere near them. Mission Bay has playgrounds that I even played on 7-8 years ago. Mission Bay is the most little-kid friendly in terms of drinking fountain and restroom access, surfless splashing around in the water. The rocky parts of La Jolla do the best in terms of seeing nature and sealife, and a kayak tour from La Jolla Shores is seriously cool. If the kids care about surf at all, they'll be telling you where they want to go. Water's still cold enough that kids without wetsuits won't want to stay in for more than a few minutes at a time. |
