Where can you feed ducks in San Diego? |
Travel Info With all of the water here you would think this would be easy to figure out but I have no clue where I can take my niece to go feed ducks. Any help would be great! Thank you :) Travel Tips Lake Murray in La Mesa has ducks, and so do most of the other rivers/reservoirs. There are a lot of ducks on Mission Bay, especially near De Anza cove. But most places don't want you to feed them as it encourages them to stay and multiply. Check out the location first yourself so your niece won't be disappointed and see if they have 'duck food' recommendations or vending machines where you can buy food that is good for them. Sometimes feeding ducks can be a bit frightening to a small child - why not take her to the petting zoo at the San Diego Zoo where she can see lots of animals and pet them too? You could combine this with a ride on the miniature railway and try for the brass ring on the carousel (these are open on the weekends). And there is a large pond in Balboa park by the arborium, but I don't know if they allow you to feed ducks or not there. Others Seaport Village. There a small pond in the middle and there a family of ducks there. Go to the S.D. Zoo or Wild Animal Park, they both have ducks and you can enjoy all the other animals too. You can feed the ducks at the Bonita Golf Course, they have a huge pond with ducks & geese. They also have a small train at Rohr Park (North side of the golf course) that gives rides to kids & parents on Sundays. ( its not every sunday but they have info at the park) You can feed the ducks on the north side (rohr park) or in the south side (Bonita Road) Im not sure where you are located...off the 805 fwy N or S...exit E Street in Chula Vista & head East. Pass the Kaiser hospital & you'll see the pond a few blocks ahead on your left side. (across the street from Vons) I used to walk around the park & golf course everyday. Santee Lakes If you're willing to travel inland and spare a couple bucks for a day pass, go to Santee Lakes. It's really nice and there are tons, I mean TONS, of ducks! |
