What r some things to do in the San Deigo area?

Travel Info
I'm going to be there this summer with my son he's 2 1/2

Travel Tips
I had been in San Diego last year x 2 months. I had bought 2 maps prior to going to San Diego, however, both were incomplete. I bought a 3rd complete one but is too small to be read by the naked eye. You will be needing a magnifying lens! The reason for this is that San Diego is so spread out! It is unlike San Francisco! To fully appreciate this, you have to ride a trolley! it is only then that I was able to see the totality of San Diego! RIDE all trolley cars, your son will definitely enjoy the ride.

Did you know that one of the tallest bridges in the world is the Coronado bridge? You have to see this to fully appreciate the breathtaking view which really is spectacular! Hotel del Coronado is one of the most beautiful hotels not only in the USA but also in the world.

Did you know what is the most famous attractions of San Diego which your son and other children will fully appreciate? It is the ANIMALS! Animals of all sorts! Enjoy the 3 animal parks= San Diego Zoo, Sea World and the Wild Animal Park. I had been to the 1st 2. Better check the websites if they have a promo when visitng the 3 themeparks. I know there is!
In going to these parks, do come on time! There are scheduled shows at the Sea World which both of you will tremendously enjoy. Ride the cable car and you will see the beautiful view of the surrounding area! Buy bottomless drinks which you can refill whole day long and at the same time serve as souvenir of your trip!
Another themepark which you will enjoy is the Legoland! It is located in Carlsbad! Alot a day for each of the themeparks but I suggest that you go to Seaport for a break! Dont schedule your trip with 3 consecutive days on themeparks. It will really be
tiring for the child and for you!

Sometimes 2 1/2 year old boys gets lost in theme parks! I suggest that you put something which can identify him just in case. A nice school id can help! You can buy that anywhere! Put his name, address and your cellphone number just in case he gets lost in the crowd!

See the last American exit at San Ysidro! There is also an outlet store over there.

Other places to go/ to know:
1. Mission San Luis Rey Francia-Oceanside
was founded in 1798.

2. I suggest that you see San Diego harbor with your son but be sure to be careful in these areas! It is an opportunity for him to see yatchs and boats.

3. SHOPPING:
Horton Plaza is in downtown. You can go down here from the trolley!
Dont ever miss the outlet at San Ysidro!
It is definitely cheaper there.

4. Cabrillo National Monument
see the Naval Base from the Visitor's
Center

5. HOTELS:
Hotel del Coronado was built in 1888.

CAUTION: Be careful when going to beaches with a child! The most common accidents of children in these age groups is due to drowning and accidental poisoning!

Make your own schedule and see the maps! I always do this to make the most out of my money and trip. I avoid buying things which I can buy in our place and avoid eating in places I used to eat. This is also one way of learning from other places! Make your trip a memorable one for you and for your kid.

Dont forget to bring first aid kits! Band-aids and other medications! Dont forget your vitamins on your trip! Keep them well locked to avoid accidental poisoning.

Hope you can enjoy your trip! Source(s): Suggested websites:

There are also some other sights to see. Do you like bike riding? try Mission Beach. hiking? Check out Torrey Pines. History? Old town is really neat.Need commute? Amtrak, the coaster, and the trolleys will get you through. Like baseball? Padres season will be starting soon at Petco Park. Its a neat Stadium. There is also the flower fields in Carlsbad, but those won't be in bloom in the summer. Downtown ecncinitas is also really cool, you should go to a beach like the famous Swami's or Moonlight. Don't forget to go to Coronado island! The internet will also fill you in on these activities.
ps, Legoland has a great kiddie area!
I can't believe no one mentioned Balboa Park! It is beautiful, huge, and centrally located. They have over a dozen museums, not to mention the zoo is on it's grounds, free botanical garden, Japanese friendship garden, fountains, ponds, several huge playgrounds, carousel, train rides, and tons of free music events ranging from jazz to reggae. You can get a discounted pass for the all the museums, but if you will be here a while, there is a different museum free each Tuesday on a rotating schedule.
Besides that, the beach naturally!
The beaches, I recommend Coronado. The zoo and Sea World are fun.
