Travel Tips
I just love San Diego lived there for years! Wonderful place to live has some great suburbs and some really nice ocean towns. The cost of living in San Diego is very high. Property is at a premium price. You will have a very hard time finding a home for $300,000, in a nice area. You will however be able to afford a nice condo/townhouse. You might even be able to find a small villa for that amount. It takes a lot of searching to find the property you want in San Diego, you have to be patient there are at least 50 people looking at the same one you are. The market there is very competitive. With that said do your research, contact the San Diego chamber of commerce get the relocation packet sent to you. This is a free service and it really helps you! Also when you are picking a relator contact the chamber they work with these people and will help you get the best one for your needs.
There are a lot of places that are nice to live. I lived in Ocean Beach which was wonderful! Very small little town outside of San Diego, nice beach feel. Very expensive very nice!

There are also some really great lofts and places downtown. They are really re-doing the city. If you are person that would be interested in living in downtown be sure to do some reasearch, you can really get some neat places.
Chula Vista is a great place, it is one of the fastest growing cities in the suburbs of San Diego, could be a good place for housing. They are growing fast and there is a lot of new construction. They have some really good schools and a low crime rate.

La Mesa is also a very fun place with small town charm and great schools. They have some wonderful places to live here and it is very beautiful. They have everything you need and are constitantly updating their city.

Encinitas is also a great place. They have some crazy homes here. This would be the "Mega" burb of San Diego. This place has both costal living in inland appeal. Nice area can get a little pricey. If you live here you will have to deal with the I-5 commute which can be a pain.

Ramona is a little further out but, this place really is a cool little town. Has the old main street, people smile, real charm here. Nice town you could get a nice place for your money here. Ramona has great parks and can you believe they are a horse friendly community! Nice place be sure to check them out I really like it here!

San Marco is also a young upstart community. Nice place to establish some roots. Good schools nice neighborhoods. There are 3 colleges there, and the town itself is really working hard to estblish it self. There is a lot of new housing and retail popping up all over this place be sure to check them out.

won't find a home for 300k, but it is one of the most beautiful cities I have ever been. I love it down there.
San Diego is a very nice place to live. I used to go visit there a lot. I live in Los Angeles. It is a pricey neighborhood. And I'm pretty sure you can't find a nice home for 300,000. althought depends on what kind of home you are looking to buy. You should check out www.sandiego.com
It's one of the nicest places on the west coast. I doubt you'll be able to find anything for $300,000. Currently my cousin lives in a tiny one bedroom there and pays $1800/mo.
You can probably get a condo for that much, it's expensive..
I live here, I'm from here, and I've lived in other places, but always come back to San Diego. The weather is the best in the world, there is plenty to do for all ages, but it is terribly expensive. You can perhaps find a decent 2 BR condo for $300,000, but that's about it.
San Diego is a great place to live. It has some of the best weather in the nation; it's mild and never too hot or cold when you live by the coast. It doesn't rain that much and usually has low humidity. You can always be outside year round doing stuff like hiking, cycling, or playing sports. It's such a beautiful city with all the hills, canyons, mountains, beaches, and water surrounding it. The people are really nice and friendly and unpretentiuous. Many people here are transplants too so you meet people from all over the place. It's a big city and there is always something to do but it kind of has a small town atmosphere and isn't nearly as congested or crowded as LA/Orange County and the SF Bay Area. The only downside is the cost of homes and gas. Homes prices have been flat or falling and you can find some homes for under 300K. You won't be able to get a house for that much but I was browisng through the paper this weekend and saw several 2 bedroom condos from under 300K.
