Going to san diego naval base..?

i plan on going to san diego in a few months.to see my boyfriend come off the ship after his deployment.i need a cheap hotel that is very close to the naval base..any suggestions?..ive looked on expedia,hotwire,and hotels.com....but just wanted to get some answers from people that live in or are close to the naval base..

Hey Navy Girlfriend,

San Diego is a big Navy/Marine/Military town. I'm going to assume your Navy Honey's ship will dock at North Island, which is situated in Coronado. My dad, many moons ago, his ship docked elsewhere, (not in San Diego), and he and the huge crew flew into MCAS/NAS Mira Mar.

Cheap is a relative term in San Diego. There is a price for living in America's Finest City. But anyway, the close hotels that would be nearest North Island, are in Coronado. There are many nice, quaint establishments in Coronado. It's near the beach, and you will find it to be very beautiful and relaxing in Coronado, with it's shops and restaurants. You will encounter the tourists that are/are not staying in the renowned Hotel Del Coronado, so prices may or may not fit your budget. But unlike the really cheap places near 32nd St. Naval Base, which lies near downtown San Diego and National City, that's where the pros can do their business cheaply when it's near pay day for the sailors.

Believe me, you do NOT want a cheap hotel/motel near the base (I'm assuming 32nd St. Naval Station). There's a Holiday Inn in National City very close to the base, but that will be over $100 a night. Anything less and you're liable to end up with crack heads or hookers in the room next door.

I assume you have a car. There used to be some small places over on Coronado. Look for them in the phone book. Very nice over there.
WHAT naval base? The one in Coronado Island? You need to be more specific.
