if you're looking for costal, then carlsbad state beach park is a sure, if you are looking for more of a mountain setting try cuyamaca or palomar, both are really great. palomar has the observatory, fishing, and wonderful hikes around the mountains. carlsbad and cardiff beach parks are for great sunsets and beach parties, there isn't a lot of hiking, but definitely a good time, nonetheless. :)
