Where can I go to expose a "slumlord"? |
Travel Info There is a TERRIBLE landlord in San Diego, and I don't want to see anyone else suffer the way me and my friends did, where can I go, to expose him....even better if he knows about it?! Travel Tips If you want him exposed, why did you miss the chance to name him and his buildings right here? Call the "Neighborhood Code Compliance" department of the City of San Diego with specific violation information. Call the City Fire Department with fire hazard issues (unsafe electric, blocked or unmarked exits, no extinguishers, etc.) or the County Health Department regarding health issues (rats, trash, toxics, etc.) Start going regularly to meetings of your local neighborhood planning group, every part of town has one and they are made of regular citizen activists and they meet monthly abut this type issues. E-mail me if you have trouble finding yours. Call the county acessors office to get a list of all properties owned by the person. Write the U_T newspaper and all the local papers. You don't say if you actually live in one of these properties, but if you do, meet all the other residents and get them on the same page. In general, more info added to your question would be helpful. Source(s): 10 year member of the Golden Hill planning group. Long time SD resident. Other Travel Tips them are every where some real freakie ones in PHX at the Maya Linda Appartmennts, they are crack heads You can go to the county health department, if it is a health issue. But I would go to the city. They have to investigate the issue, and the landlord has to fix it or he will be fined up the wazoo. If you have lots of proof of his slumness, you can sue him in civil court. Talk to a lawyer. go to marty emrald 10 news media |
