I need to know a nice area to live in San Diego not too far to commute to work at Gillespie fields airport? |
Travel Info Would love to be somewhat near the water. Not in a dumpy area, however need to get to the airport to work.Does anyone know what area I need to be looking for housing.Someone please help. Travel Tips Gillespie field is in El Cajon, I work and Live in El Cajon (Techncally I live in Rancho San Diego). The Rancho San Diego Part of El Cajon is extremly nice compared to actual "El Cajon". I live about 8 miles away from my work and I don't even have to get on the freeway to get to work and I'm there within 10-15 mintues. My husband and I live in an apartment and pay 1175 a month for a 1br. that is 866 square feet and extremely nice. Living in San Diego, it's not that important to actually live on the water becuase you can be at the beach within 15-20 mintues and enjoy it just the same. Also, most places down by the beach are much smaller than in east county (El Cajon area) and you pay much more for a cracker jack box sized place! My husband and I have a boat and a waverunner and we are down on the water every weekend even though we live in east county! But if you must live near the water, than go for it! Others The airport is in El Cajon which is apx. 25 minutes straight down the 8 to the water. El Cajon itself has really nice areas & some really dumpy areas and they are within a block of each other. Honestly - not sure what you are planning to spend - the further west you go the higher the price goes. La Jolla is one of the few communities that is near the beach and nice, but kind of pain to get in and out of. Also pricing is pretty high. Almost everywhere in San Diego you can get to the beach in 30 minutes. Honestly the most important thing I would look at is the morning commute time before you settle on a place (or whatever time you will be driving to work). We have some places that if you look on Sunday you'll think you are going to be close to work - but 3 miles can take an hour in a few places. Here is a link to double check that: http://www.dot.ca.gov/dist11/d11tmc/sdma... If you want to be near the water....you can find a nice place in Ocean Beach, Mission Beach, Mission Valley, Old Town, all these are located near the 8 FWY which will lead you east towards Gillespie Fields Airport. SD Native! Well if you wanna be near the water and still have an easy route to the airport then you should probably settle in Ocean Beach or Mission Beach! |
