Travel Info I'm 27 from Boston thinking of moving to california...anyone have any advice, input, where to go, etc..Thanks! Travel Tips San Diego is a great place to live. It has some of the best weather in the country, never too hot or cold, rarely rains, sunny and in the 70's most of the time. There is alway something to do or going on; the great year round weather allows people to be outside all the time. The people are friendly and really laid back. Most people here are transplants and pretty out going; there's a lot of New England area transplants here too and a Boston Red Sox bar in Ocean Beach. SD is a big city with tons of things to do but it still has a small town atmosphere and isn't too crowded like LA or the BAy area. It's pretty laid back and not too fast paced, classic southern CA beach culture; People on beach cruisers and in board shorts and flip flops year round. In addition to all the things in SD you're also close to the mountains, desert, LA, Orange County, Las Vegas, and Mexico. I would look into moving into one of the beach communitities or somewhere around downtown. Pacific Beach, Mission Beach, Ocean Beach, La Jolla, Mission Valley, Little Italy, Downtown, ect.. are all great places to live in SD. If you want warm weather, great beach scene, and a laid back atmoshpere I would check out San Diego. Others I just came back to Ca. from a Boston visit. All folks FROM here said they would NEVER come back. Bring lots of $$$$$$$ I was amazed at how much cheaper things are back there. Call the insurance co's & compare prices. Gasoline is almost $1. a gallon higher here. Got a job lined up? Get a S.D. newspaper & check it out before you come & start your spanish lessons. 90% of the jobs are bi-lingual. Good luck Look at what type of pay you can get for a job, and look at homes, and how expensive it is to rent/buy a place. San Diego is the 5th most expensive city to live in America..but if money is no option, then by all means it is a great city! Just an idea: I rent a 3 bedroom 2 bath in a good area for $1600/ month (and i actually think that is a steal!!) |
