Commute from CORONADO?

What is the commute time from Coronado to UCSD (La Jolla). Mapquest says 21 minutes (this is from the entrance to the coronado bridge). Is this an accurate time? What about morning traffic - what time would I have to leave to get to UCSD by 9am? Thanks

In the mornings, you will be going against the traffic until you get on the 5 (freeway), It may take you longer as you should plan for accidents and the occasional person trying to commit suicide by jumping off the bridge. I've been stuck on the bridge for hours three times because of this. Doesn't happen all the time but it seems to be a once every 2 years thing.

I'd say to leave an hour early. This way, you can navigate through accidents and have time to grab coffee before classes. Source(s): Used to live in Coronado. (Navy)

During the rush (both ways) count on 80 minutes. Seriously.
Why not just live in La Jolla or Pacific Beach? [If you can afford Coronado...]

Give yourself atleast 45 minutes. You will spend more time looking for parking than you will driving.
From Coronado to UCSD you can save money & stress by just using the MTS buses, route 901, 902 & 903 all cross the bridge right into the city, from there take express route 30, 50 or 150 right to UCSD. With the high gas prices and heavy traffic you will be glad to be using transit! Good Luck!
