Where's the best place to party in San Diego? |
Travel Info Which area is better, the beach or the gaslamp? Which bars and clubs would you recommend? Travel Tips Both are fun but are different scenes. Pacific Beach has a younger crowd, cheaper drinks, some dive bars, some upscale bars, and many typical bars/nightclubs. PB is a lot more laid back and casual, few bars have dress codes and the ones that do don't always enforce them and they aren't as strict as downtown. Some bars have covers but none are more than $5. The Gaslamp is more upscale, trendy, and has an older more affluent crowd. Most bars have covers that range from $10 on the low end to as high as $35 and drinks are more expensive too. The dress codes are much more strict and enforced compared to PB. If I had more money and lived closer to downtown I might go there more often but I live in PB and am not that wealthy so I prefer to stay local. But it all depends on what scene you are looking for. You can always do Fri night in PB and Sat night in the Gaslamp. Either way both are very fun and happending nightlife spots. In the Gaslamp I like Yardhouse (no cover and no line usually), On Broadway ($$ cover and line), Belo, and Whiskey Girl. PB I usually go to Cass St (dive bar), Thrusters, Moondoggies, Sandbar (Mission Beach), PB Bar and Grill, and Tavern. Others I prefer PB than the gaslamp, the people are more laid back and friendlier. Looks like "S" already gave you the info you needed. I second his opinion on everything. I personally only party downtown. I don't like to see people in flip flops when I'm clubbing unless I'm in Rosarito! I too recommend On Broadway and Belo. As far as size goes, On Broadway is the biggest club we have with about 5 rooms of music. Always a good time on the weekend! Stingaree is the poshest club in SD. On Broadway is huge and is always fun. Belo Friday nights.... great djs. 3 of my fav. places in Downtown. |
