Star gazing in San Diego?

I want to take my friend star-gazing but i dont know anywhere besides palomar observatory and the desert. I live in La Jolla and i dont want to go very far.

on a side note, how is the quality of star-gazing on Mt Soledad?

i dont no but y not look on goggle maps it might help
You're not going to see too many stars from Mt. Soledad--it's too close to the city, the lights will make it impossible to see what you want. You might want to try some hiking trails that take you off the beaten path. Also, the areas around the Wild Animal Park and Julian would probably yield some good star-watching spots.
