Deming, New Mexico

Honey I don't know...New Mexico sounds like a good answer..
I grew up in San Diego and moved to San Antonio. I've driven back and forth many times. The halfway point is Lordsburg, NM. Deming is also a good answer, but Lordsburg has a lot more to choose from (hotels, restaurants, etc.). I used to drive from San Antonio to Benson, AZ (just outside of Tucson). It's a long drive the first day, but only 6-7 hours the next day. On the way back, I stayed in Deming once, but Lordsburg the other 5 or 6 times. Deming is about an hour away from Lordsburg, so when you're driving back to San Antonio, Lordsburg looks a lot more inviting. Lordsburg is just before the NM/AZ border. Keep both in mind. Drive safely (west Texas is boring...NM is flat...desert in AZ...the first real "hill" is just before you get in to Yuma, AZ. It's quite the adventure.
I've done it many times
