Pacific Beach in San Diego, CA? |
Travel Info We are going to San Deigo in July and will most likely go to Pacific Beach, Is that the one with the roller coaster? Anyways i'm looking for a good website that has some pics of it and shows some information on it. If you have any suggestions about this beach or reccommend one over this one i'd be grateful for any info. or links to websites! THANKS! Travel Tips The roller coaster is in Mission Beach as mentioned. Mission beach is more of a surf-bum spot, whereas Pacific beach is probably the the best place for hip college-age to middle aged people in the San Diego area. Garnet Ave. is the main street running through Pacific Beach toward the ocean and is lined with neat bars and interesting clothing stores. Garnet terminates at the ocean at Crystal pier where you can stay in a bungalow right above the water. The beach here is rather large and people watching along the boardwalk is a fantastic experience. If you are 21, I'd reccommend Cass St. Bar and Grille. (North of Garnet 1.5 blocks on Cass St.) Others Mission Beach has the roller coaster. Pacific Beach is great and one of the best beach communties in the nation. If you like to have fun and party then PB is the place to be. The Roller Coaster is down in Mission Beach about 2 miles south of the pier in PB. Mission Beach is also a great community to check out and spend some time, you can just walk there or rent a beach cruiser and ride down the boardwalk, which I recomend b/c it's the best way to get around PB and MB b/c parking and traffic in summer kind of sucks. Some websites you can check out are: http://www.pacificbeach.org/ http://www.welovepb.com/ http://www.pacificbeachonline.com/... http://www.pubclub.com/sandiego/pacificb... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/pacific_bea... http://www.sandiego.org/article_set/visi... Here is a link for you to take a "virtual" ride on the "Dipper" I would think if I were a tourist in San Diego that I would opt for Mission Beach over Pacific Beach because it is closer to other things like Sea World, Vacation Isle, Seaforth Landing. All are in close proximity and freeway acccess is right there. The boardwalk has a lot to offer for strolling and sightseeing and there is access to Mission Bay just across the street to be on the bay side. You can always get to PB easily enough but I think that Mission Beach is more family friendly. http://www.giantdipper.com/virtualgd.htm...
