Sea World or Universal Studios?

My brother is in boot camp for the Marines in San Diego, California. My family is going to go to San Diego for his Graduation, and we have to choose to ethier go to Sea World or Universal Studios. Where would you go and why?

well for one thing, Sea World in in San Diego, Universal Studios is in LA.

Are you a sweaty person? Do you know how hot it gets in San Diego during the summer? The way I see it, if you're gonna get wet, might as well do it in water.

That is like comparing Apples with Oranges. These two parks are not interchangeable.

Sea World is basically an Aquarium(granted a very big one) with several shows and exhibits with a couple of "rides". This is also closer to where you will be than Universal Studios is.

Universal Studios deals with the Movie Industry and has Several Shows and Rides.

Sea World is right along the bay and will be cooler, Universal Studios is in the Valley and will be much hotter if you visit in the summer.

If you don't really care for Sea Life and want more Thrills then Universal Studios is where you will want to go. If you like to see a bigger concentration on animals then Sea World is your choice.
Sea World. Universal Studios is a good 1.5 hr drive from San Diego. There is always the Wild Animal Park, the SD Zoo, and the Birch Aquarium (about 15-minutes up the coast) too. Balboa Park has some great interactive museums as well.

If you have not been though, Sea World would be #1 on the list. I recommend the Breakfast with Shamu and if you want to be able to show up later but still get decent seats do the Picnic Lunch for the Shamu Show. Personally, I would not recommend any of the tours. You can get just as close and feed the same animals without the tour. Do all the shows though, they are great. Get there early for the Sea Lion show, the "pre-show entertainment" is hilarious. If you plan to go for more than one day, at least one person in your group should get the Silver Passport, this is unlimited admission for the year plus Free parking ($10 each day savings) and 10-20% off the Bkft & Lunch deals for every member of your party so it pays for itself. For a single day, check Ebay for $8 off per person coupons selling for like $1.50. One coupon is good for 6 people.
