Travel Info Best things to do in San Diego this weekend? NO THEME PARKS.? Travel Tips I concur that the SD Zoo is well worth about a 1/2 day. Many visitor friendly ongoing shows daily along with escalators and a sky walk. Also, there some excellent museums adjacent to the Zoo within the Balboa Park area. Go to Mission Beach/Pacific Beach and walk along their Boardwalk or right on the edge of the Ocean when the tide is out. Take a kayak ride or a Jet Ski ride (rental) in the Mission Bay Park area (adjacent to the Hilton Hotel vicinity). Have a great Italian or Pizza dinner in the Little Italy section (Giuseppe's Pizza Grotto) in downtown area or a good seafood lunch/dinner at Anthony's Seafood restaurant on North Harbor Drive. Lastly, consider taking the excellent 2 hour narrated harbor boat cruise that departs 4-5 times a day from the Cruise ship area near the Star of India sailing boat along Harbor Drive. Others get loaded The San Diego Zoo is one of the best zoos I have ever been to. Go spend an afternoon, you will enjoy it. Nothing, go to L.A. It's all tourist crap in San Diego, nothing of real substance. You can go to Sea World, San Diego Zoo, Casino's, the nearest theme park would be Six Flags in L.A., a good 2 hour drive depending on traffic.
