Is San Diego County a good place to live?

Travel Info
I've been told that the weather in SD is fabulous. Also, SD is very clean, safe, but expensive...So, are prices the only cons for San Diego, or is the traffic bad there too; just like most places in California?

BTW, are there places in SD county that are better than the city of San Diego? What are these places?

Travel Tips
East county is as hot as the desert.
The "Fabulous" weather is near the coast, go more than 10 miles inland (east) from the beach and the weather sucks in the summer time.

Traffic is Nothing like Los Angeles, but it can be bad, So.. If you live in North County then you should work in North County.

The only culture is from Mexico, people that move here say San Diego has NO culture of its own and they are right.
But I like that. If you live here you make you own culture as you go.

Its not "very" clean, just clean (not as clean as Seattle for example) and we do get smog - but not even close to as much smog as Los Angeles gets.

Safe ? As much as any other big city in America.

Good places to live in the county - anyplace West of the 805 or 5 freeways And stay North of the 94 freeway. (stay out of east and south county )

Vancouver BC much better
You can live in El Cajon, La Mesa and etc. But, San Diego is getting outrageous on traffic and cost of living and etc. Just weigh your options out of where you would like to live because of commute to work or whatever. And then you can decide appropriately.
Lived in San Diego for nine years.
You heard right about San Diego being clean, safe and expensive... its true...traffic is not nearly as bad as L.A.....there is a bunch of towns next to san diego....as far as weather goes, remember anywhere in california the towns right next to the ocean are always cooler and when you go inland a few miles the temperature skyrockets sometimes 40 degrees warmer depending on the area...so you can be in san diego at the beach with temperature 70 degrees and drive inland a few miles and the temperature will be 90 or even 100 degrees. (this is true for the L.A. and S.F. too)
I lived in San Diego for 15 years, and I wished I never left. Traffic isn't bad, onlt for the popel who live in LA and work in SD. It is really not that expensive if you live there, you will know where to go instead of the weekend warriors(tourists). The all time best to leave in the San Diego county is a small town called Poway, next to Scripps Ranch. I lived in Ramona for a few years and it was too country for me. Poway is up Hwy 15 and take the Poway exit right. BUT if you have the money live in Scripps Ranch, stay away from La Jolla it is ALWAYS bumper to bumper there. But they do have great clubs. Hope I helped you.
