How far is it from San Deigo to Hollywood? |
Travel Info My family and I are going to San deigo mid July for 5 days. Last years trip was extremely fun, but we want to try some new things. We are going to be staying near mission beach and I was wondering how far it is to Hollywood. I want to see the Hollywood sign, I have seen it b4 but just from the freeway. Also we want to go see the Chinese Theatre were the hand and foot prints are of stars. What other cool things are there to do in Hollywood? Travel Tips It really depends on traffic. If you travel on a Saturday or Sunday morning, you can probably make the trip in as little as 2.5 hours. If you travel on a Friday, 3.5 or 4 hours is quite likely. If you are driving to LA during the week, try to leave SD around 9 or 10 a.m., so that you get to the LA area by around noon or 1 p.m. If you travel during this period, it shouldn't take you more than 3 hours to get to LA. Others About 3.5-4 hrs. Go to Griffith Park Observatory at night. Its beautiful looking down on the city. Mission Beach is about 110 miles from Hollywood. I do know that you can't just walk up to the big sign, its hard to get closer than a couple of blocks. As far as other things, you might try posting in the LA section. Hollywood itself is not as great as its reputation. Its mostly T-shirt and "tobacco" shops. The Thai restaurants are great. Beverly Hills, Westwood/UCLA area, Pasadena, or Santa Monica are more fun, in my opinion. a 2 to 3 hour drive, not that far 2 and a half hours with no traffic I was in Cali. last week visiting from the east coast and made the drive on a Monday ( late morning) it took 2 and half hours from Hollywood to San Diego |
