Travel Tips
If you only have a Friday night through Sunday morning visit here in San Diego, you probably will want to allow time to see the city. The San Diego Zoo is probably our most famous attraction outside of the beaches. However, it really takes about 4-6 hours to see the zoo adequately. The same could be said for Sea World or the Wild Animal Park.

Instead, you may be able to take in a lot more by seeing sites and sampling the atmosphere of the city. Take a drive out to the tip of Point Loma to Cabrillo National Monument. For $5.00 per carload, you can take in the best vista of the city and the bay, tour one of the oldest lighthouses on the West Coast, and also explore numerous tidepools.

Be sure to enjoy a dinner at one of the many fine restaurants in the downtown Gaslamp district.

Though parking is sometimes tight, a visit to one of the many beaches in the area is a refreshing respite.

I guess the key point is that, if your time is limited, try to not take so much of it visiting just one attraction in town. Rather, see the city and learn where things are at -- enjoy the views and make mental notes about things you'd like to visit and see more in depth on a future visit.
Others
We have a lovely zoo here. Also there is the Wild Animal Park though I've never been.
The Gaslamp district downtime has a mall, lots a shopping, tons of restaurants, and even more bars and clubs if you're over 21.
SeaWorld!
Balboa park is up by the zoo and there are lots of museums, a rose garden, a botanical garden, and a Japaenese tea garden to wander though.
If you are not from Cali I definately reccomend that you find a small little taco shop somewhere and try a California burrito.

Have fun when you visit!
It really depends on your interests. San Diego has Sea World, the San Diego Zoo, and the Wild Animal Park. All of them are great if you enjoy animals.

You can also go wine tasting, relax on a beach, kayak through the La Jolla caves, go hiking, bike around Coronado Island, play beach volleyball, take a bay cruise, drive to the top of Mt. Soledad to see the fantastic view....the list goes on and on.

pick a beach.
Coronado or Del Mar or La Jolla.

Coronado has the famous Hotel Del.
La Jolla has the Cove and Seal Beach (children's pool).
Del Mar is a classic Southern Cal beach town with expensive shops and restaurants.

There are other beaches of course.

At night - Gaslamb (Downtown).
