Why are San Diegans in total denial that they live in a big city? |
Travel Info Is it because they are insulated and backwards? Is it because they are conservative Republicans? Is it because they have no culture to speak of? Travel Tips Considering that San Diego is the 8th largest city in America, you seem to be wrong. Others Why do you have such a huge chip on your shoulder about San Diego? Just move already if you hate it that much. And you have to be one pretty lame person if you can't enjoy the things San Diego has to offer; very few people hate this city and don't enjoy it. For most NORMAL people, nice sunny weather and beautiful beaches usually put people in a good mood, not you obviously. And considering it's the 2nd largest city in CA with over 1.3 million people I think that qualifies it as a big city. Even though it's a big city it's still cheaper to live here than LA or the BAy Area and traffic is better than both of those places. San Diego isn't even that conservative either. There are more registered democrats in the city of SD than there are republicans. It's a pretty moderate city overall, a recent study of voting patterns in cities nationwide placed San Diego right in the middle of the most liberal and most conservative cities in the nation. The only reason the county tends to go red is b/c the northern suburbs are very conservative. But at least it's not Orange County and really socially conservative; we're still one of the only places that allow alcohol on the sand. It's a pretty cheap and fiscally conservative city but so what; it doesn't bother me I don't have to pay for trash pickup. You sound like some pretentious, wanna be psuedo intellectual liberal. Maybe you should go to SF and spend those coldy, foggy days protesting the stupidest stuff instead of kicking back and reaxing at a warm sunny beach. edit: Many people in the Bay Area are TOO OBSESSED with politics and don't know how to enjoy life, not all of them but especially people in SF and Berekly. And they always feel the need to throw their values and opinions in your face. I love the Bay Area b/c it's where I was born and raised and overall the people there are great like in SD but some of the people in SF, Berekly, and Marin County are just so full of themselves, and you seem like that type. "refreshingly activist and involved" ...now that cracks me up. Too funny... |
