Which one is better? Irvine or San Diego? |
Travel Info I'm accepted by both UC and have visited both campus, now I am COMPLETELY torn between them:( Both has its pros and cons. Any of you guys have lived or visited both places or any one of them? Can you tell me more about the places there, personal experiences, etc. anything is a greeeeat help! thanks:D Travel Tips UC San Diego is a better and more prestigious school overall so academically it's a better choice. It's ranked as the nation's 7th best public university by US News magazine. I don't really care for Irvine or Orange County in general. It's very bland and sterile to me. OC is pretty much nothing but strip malls, cookie cutter subdivisions, and huge freeways. The coastal areas are really nice and UC Irvine is really close to Newport Beach and the best parts of Orange County, so it's not as bad as the rest of the county. UC San Diego is located in a pretty upscale area next to La Jolla and is really close to the ocean. But if you want to live in a college type area it's close to Pacific Beach, which is a great community for young adults to live in. I had a great time at UCSD; partied my butt off and got a good education at the same time. I think there is more to do and just more character overall in San Diego compared to Orange County. The nightlife is great downtown and in Pacific Beach. Plus trips to Tijuana are so much fun freshman year. There is usually a party bus that meets at the Sun God lawn at UCSD on Fri and Sat nights that will take you down to the border for a night of hard partying; not something you want to do every weekend but it's fun every now and then. I would choose UCSD but I am biased b/c I went there and had a great college experiance, it's also a better school overall so that's another thing to consider. whatever you choose, good luck and have fun, college is great! Others San Diego. Have twin daughters who both checked out the campus there. They did not go - however some of their friends have and without exception - they had a fantastic experience there! Add the fact that the weather in San Diego has a much better climate - I thing an average of 72 degrees year round - much better place!! Flip a coin or just go to San Diego - you will love it!!! UCSD man!!! You cant beat San Diego's weather and you can always party @ SDSU Irvine = L.A. Area L.A. Area = Suck Therefore; Irvine = Suck San Diego > Irvine Irvine. UCSD sucks... realbigtaco answered this correctly with simple math. "S" answered with proper insight. I agree with both. SD. More options, less crowds. |
