What are the best areas in San Diego (North) for a single mom? |
Travel Info What are the best areas in San Diego (North) for a single mom (of one pre-schooler) interested in an area with great companies to work for in the office with benefits while I finish nursing school, I'd like to be in a safe and nice area where I can get a 2bdrm under $1200 a month? I have done some searching and it seems like San Marcos, Escondido, Vista, Murietta are places that fit what I'm looking for, but I haven't been there yet, so I would like advice from a local. I tend to like newer apartment bldgs vs older ones, I realize that what I'm looking for may not be that easy to find on my budget, but I know it is possible, so I'm looking for a well informed answer. Thanks;-) Travel Tips You didn't say where your nursing school was located? My priority - and my suggestion, would be to find an area that is close by your school or job so that you spend less time away from your pre-schooler. Also, I would focus more on the quality of schools in the area (grade school is just around the corner!) than I would be concerned about whether I lived in an old or new apartment. However, lots of new buildings are going up in Carlsbad...plus the weather is cooler than those inland areas you mentioned. I would not recommend Vista or Murietta, but the other two areas, San Marcos and Escondido seem to have good reps and good schools. Poway is in a similar area to Escondido and has very good schools. Others Well all the areas you named are nice, just avoid Temecula, nothing is worst than Temecula, I lived here for 7 months and hate it. Try going to www.craigslist.org and go to Califorina and San Diego and but in you max and the number for bedrooms you want and see what you can find, that is how I found a place down here for 2,050. Just don't do Temecula and that is it. |
