Thinking of moving to San Diego from Germany...?

Travel Info
I'm thinking of moving to San Diego From German in a year. my girlfriend is in IT and I want to become a teacher. It thecost of living crazy out there. are there any area that are near the beach but not super expensive? Are our careers in need out there?

Travel Tips
Areas like La Jolla and Del Mar are super expensive but there's almost no area that's not within a 15 minute drive of the beach. If you and your girlfriend are willing to spend, say 800-1000 per month, you should be able to find a nice place within a bike ride or even walking distance from the beach, even in the city itself. If you want to know the job situation, visit the link below. You should be able to get a list of all IT and education jobs in the area and all rental prices for free and no registration. Other Travel Tips
If the beach is your thing, then consider Hawaii as well. Teachers are needed in Hawaii and IT should be able to find a job easily. The cost of living is expensive, but it is manageable.
I moved there 4 years ago.

Hello, I've lived in germany and now i live in CA. San Diego is definitely different from what you are used to. It will be hot, crowded, a little dirtier...but the beach is closeby anywhere you live in San Diego, like someone has said before. San Diego is also not cheap, but I am sure you will find a job there. The schools there are not the best, so being a teacher might have its downsides...and I dont know if they are in demand. I have lived in hawaii as well...and if the beach is your thing...i would definitely look into going there in stead. Of coarse, it will get boring after a while...because you are on a small island...and it takes a couple of weeks to see EVERYTHING. CA really is a great state...and san diego is a good place to start. If you arent that interested in swimming and want to surf and want forests, mountaints, less traffic, etc. near by i would look into moving to northen CA, not San Diego. I currently live near tahoe, and I like it much better up here. The beach is closeby, but it is colder.
If you're looking for cheap, get a place in Santee. It's hot during the summer and looks like Arizona, but its a short drive from the beach. Another good place is Clairemont. 15 minutes away from PB and not too expensive. Clairemont also has one of the movie theaters, a bunch of restaurants, electronics, etc. in its town square.
